Real Wedding: Lala & Jay's Rat Pack Style Wedding

Whoo!  I had to do this Real Wedding Feature with my eyes closed!  Hot & Steamy!!!  I met Lala on a wedding forum, a little over two years ago, and we hit it off as friends.  She is one of the sweetest people I know!  Lala and her husband, Jay, began planning one type of wedding, Elegant French Countryside themed, but during the planning process, realized that, they were losing sight of them and what they really wanted.  They decided to get married in Las Vegas, Rat Pack Style!  Simple, Clean, Rogue, and Sexy mixed with a lotta love!  I'm going to warn you, you may blush a little, and smile all at the same time while looking at the photos from their special day!

The Wedding Date:  June 25, 2011

Location:  Stratosphere Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas, NV

Tell me about the planning of your day?

Where do I begin? Jay and I spent nearly a year and a half planning our wedding. We nailed down the theme, which was Elegant French Countryside. We wanted it to be really organic and preferably outside since Novembers in Houston are mild to say the least. As our date approached we both felt as if we had lost ourselves and the wedding was no longer about us but about trying to impress people. We wanted it to be about family because in the end we were joining two families, since he had previously been married and has a daughter from that union.

Did you have a decor theme that embodied your wedding? What was the inspiration for that particular idea and how was it unique to you and your groom?

We finally decided that we were going to get hitched Vegas Style! We didn’t want anything would be dated in a few years, nor did we want anything that would embarrass us either. We decided to do it Rat Pack Style. We wanted lots of clean lines and simple colors. We chose black and white as our wedding colors because you really cannot get any simpler than that. We used fuchsia as an accent color so our palette would not be too bland and would still read as modern.

What were some of the elements you used, to create the beautiful wedding you envisioned?

I think that the pops of pink which was the Pantone 2011 color helped to transition our wedding from a vintage themed wedding to a modern wedding with classic touches.

Where did you choose to hold your wedding, and how did the location influence your decor decisions?

We were very limited on our choices for a venue because the Vegas wedding was such a last minute decision. By the time we settled on a date many of the hotels, casinos, and chapels were booked. We chose the Stratosphere because I liked the food selections. We also found out that we were expecting in the midst of planning for Vegas, so food was very important. I didn’t want a formal, plated dinner, I wanted everyone to mingle and move about. It was very cocktail friendly for everyone except me!

You wore a sassy, white, short dress, what did your groom think about your dress?

Yes I did! He figured that I would wear something shorter than the traditional dress but he didn’t think that it would look the way it did. The look on his face was priceless. Every woman wants their husband to be speechless on their big day but to see his mouth drop and the smile that followed was something that I’ll keep with me for a lifetime.

Reflecting on your wedding day, what was your favorite part of your wedding? Favorite detail? What did you love about it?

The day was such a blur so much went on that it was hard to even breathe especially in the Vegas heat. As cheesy as this may sound but the kiss was the best part of the whole day. It was at that moment that I realized that I was my husband’s and he was mine.
